"And I've always said that I don't respect people who don't proselytize... How much do you have to hate somebody to not proselytize? How much do you have to hate somebody to believe that everlasting life is possible and not tell them that?" - Penn Jillette, entertainer & outspoken atheist

Luke 5:27-32

It's pretty shocking to look in the gospels and find out that one of the core competencies that followers of Jesus must exhibit is the ability to throw a good party. In this sermon, we look at the missionary heart of Levi, a new convert, and his desire to throw a great party in order for his buddies to meet Jesus. From his story we can learn what it might look like for us to be good missionaries to our friends today.

Luke 24:44-53

Matthew's gospel may end with the famous "Go!" of the Great Commission, but Luke's story ends with "Wait!" Stay until you are clothed with power from on high. In this sermon, we see that we need the power of Jesus in order to go on mission with Jesus. And that power through the person and work of the Holy Spirit. We take a look at our need for the Spirit and how to prepare for an outpouring of his power.

Luke 10:1-12, 17-20

Luke 15:1-10

What is God like really? Jesus tells us three stories to remind us that we don't get it. We don't really understand what God is like. Time and time again Jesus has to recalibrate our vision to see the deep love that God has for lost things and lost people. He is a reckless shepherd... a diligent searcher... a lovesick father.

In this sermon, we examine Jesus' meeting with this woman and what his words and actions can teach us about the heart of Christian mission.
