Get to Know
Christ City Church

We believe following Jesus is a daily, lived experience rather than a set of beliefs. To serve with heart means we step into our neighborhoods with genuine compassion, looking out for one another without a hidden agenda. To worship in wonder is to remain anchored in historic traditions while keeping our eyes wide open to the awe and beauty of the present moment. And to create with purpose is to treat our daily work, our relationships, as art that meaningfully reflects our Creator. Ultimately, this mission is about showing up authentically in the real, everyday spaces of our city.

Our Vision:

A place to belong and

a place to know God.

Our Mission:

To be followers of Jesus

who serve with heart,

worship in wonder,

and create with purpose.

You’ll find this language everywhere at Christ City, and it’s because we mean it. Belonging first allows us to create safety and connection. That in turn invites us deeper into faith and understanding of who God is. Building relationships with ourselves, others, and our Creator. It’s not always easy, but it’s the journey of spiritual formation that we invite everyone who walks through our doors to participate in with us.

Believe in God.
Follow Christ.

What We Believe

At Christ City Church, we uphold the historic Christian faith, passed down from Jesus, through the early church, and to the global church today. That faith is built upon Scripture, and well-summarized in the Apostles’ and Nicene Creeds. These foundational creeds are considered the "essentials" of the Christian faith for Christians worldwide. As members of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), we hold to the contemporary expression of faith as found in the preamble to the design.

Why Liturgy

Liturgy helps us participate.

We don't watch worship happen. We stand, speak, listen, sing, pray, eat, drink, and respond.

Liturgy gives us rest.

Not every Sunday has to give us a new idea. Sometimes we receive words that have carried God's people through generations.

Liturgy gives us the breadth of Scripture.

The lectionary helps keep our life together from being shaped only by the interests of one pastor, one moment, or one congregation because it guides us through the vast diversity of the scriptures while centering the gospels.

Liturgy gives us poetry and wonder.

The Psalms, prophets and other prayers and written songs teach us that faith isn't merely explaining God. It is also about expressing our joy, grief, doubt, longing, gratitude, and wonder before God.

Liturgy roots us in something bigger than ourselves.

We receive practices and words from Christians who came before us and share them with Christians around the world today.

Liturgy forms us.

Over time, these practices shape our imaginations, our relationships, and our rhythms. We gather, worship, wonder, listen, respond, receive, bless, and are sent.

Rooted in Scripture. Grounded in the historic Christian faith.

We affirm the Apostles’ and Nicene Creeds and, as part of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), the faith expressed in the Preamble to the Design.
