Equality

Equal worth, equal expectation, equal opportunity

Christ City Church believes that the church can only reach its full potential
when it embraces diversity as one of its greatest strengths.¹

We affirm the dignity and worth of all people as created in the image of God.² We welcome and affirm the giftings and experiences of those of different ethnicities, races, genders and sexual orientations. We embrace those of differing socio-economic backgrounds and diverse political and theological beliefs.³ We do this while continually encouraging and challenging one another to pursue a life rooted in the love of God as exemplified in the person of Jesus the Christ, the ministry of the Holy Spirit , and those faithful to the testimony of Christ throughout history.

  • We offer the same path of discipleship and leadership to all people; assuming equal worth, equal expectations, and equal opportunity to all who seek to follow after Christ with us.

    • Equal worth: made in the image of God; not in any way less, or of a different value or quality.

    • Equal expectation: held to the same standards of discipleship based on the teachings of Jesus.

    • Equal opportunity: able to serve and lead in any capacity within the church or be married or baptized under the blessing of the church.

  • We welcome all to participate, serve and lead as empowered by the Spirit in all facets of the life and ministry of Christ City Church, including partnership, baptism, ordination, marriage, teaching, and leadership.

  • We practice egalitarian leadership meaning women and men are equally equipped to serve as leaders and elders.

  • We welcome and affirm LGBTQ persons in all lay and professional ministry.

With these freedoms and boundaries in mind, we will continue to be a place for people to belong, wherever they find themselves on their journey toward following Jesus.“We are all saved in the same way, by the grace of the Lord Jesus” (Acts 15:11). We hold this expression close to our hearts:

“In essentials, unity; in non-essentials, liberty; in all things, love.”
