Christ City Kids

We are committed to creating a safe, clean, and fun environment for our children to encounter the life-transforming power of the gospel, while simultaneously equipping parents to lead their children.

For children ages 3 and under:

Our nursery volunteers will make church a happy, clean, and safe place to learn biblical truths. They will help children begin to understand:

God is creator, giver of all good things;
Jesus is God’s son and our best friend; the
Holy Spirit is our helper; and the
Bible is a special collection of books and letters that tell about experiences with God, Jesus, and The Holy Spirit.

For children who are in Junior Kindergarten through Fifth Grade:

Our Godly Play program takes place during the main worship service. Godly Play is an innovative approach to the spiritual education of children.

The Godly Play curriculum is intentionally designed to provide children with a safe space to listen to a story and use play as a method of contemplating that story. It does not tell children exactly what to believe, but gives them room to discover and experience God through reflection and creative practices.

Godly Play:

  • is a creative, imaginative approach to Christian formation and spiritual guidance.

  • is a Montessori-inspired curriculum with a foundation of 40+ years of research and practice.

  • values process, openness, discovery, community, and relationships.

  • models the worship life of Christian congregations through forming deeper understandings of stories, symbols, seasons, and rituals.

  • provides participants a space to connect Scripture with personal experience and open-ended response.

  • allows participants to make relevant and personal meaning for themselves by inviting them to enter and explore biblical stories and the stories of Christians from around the world.

  • nurtures participants into larger dimensions of belief and faith through wondering and play.

Godly Play uses the following schedule:

  • Crossing the Threshold (getting ready and gathering in the circle)

  • The Story

  • The Response Time (reflection through art and play)

  • The Feast and Sharing Time (snack and discussion)

  • Dismissal
